The Book of Life is a composite of devotional messages and poetry for the heart inspired by the Word of God. The goal of our spiritual inspirations is to provide words of encouragement to both Christians and non-believers, which is supported by the truth as revealed in the Holy Bible. Every devotional tells a story about God’s unconditional love. As we read devotionals that are mainly concerned with real life experiences, we begin to understand the Word of God as presented in Scripture provides solutions to our dilemmas in God’s time, according to His purpose. Biblical Scripture provides a literary road map for us to follow that will move us closer to understanding the goodness of living in Christ. However, our understanding is limited until we get to know Him. To know Christ, you must be born again. “Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:22-23, NIV).
Devotional: Day 16 - LOVE
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love.” (John 15:9, NLT)
Life! It’s all about knowing, receiving, and sharing God’s love bestowed in our hearts as identified in His living Word. “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart” (Ezekiel 36:26, NIV).
I recently heard about a dynamic change of heart in two nine-year- old boys in foster care that were placed with the same family. Both boys were loved, nicely cared for, and treated like permanent members of their new family.
However, after three days with the new family, both boys ran away from home, only to return a few hours later. When asked why they left and why they returned home, both boys replied, “We left because we thought we were not going to be loved. We returned because we knew in our hearts that we were loved.”
Both boys were touched by the power of the Holy Spirit to feel and miss the love they experienced during their three-day stay with the new family. Scripture says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10, ESV).
There is no force in the universe greater than the love that God has for His children. When the Holy Spirit touches you with His love, your heart changes and you will never be the same.As Christians, we know that action energizes our faith. “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead” (James 2:26, NIV). As followers of Christ, we trust and obey the Lord’s commands that move us closer to an intimate love relationship with our Father. “So you see, our love for him comes as a result of his loving us first” (1 John 4:19, TLB). Victory is yours when you love God. Praise His name and your life will never be the same.
